What are like terms?
Well, like terms are terms that contain the same variables raised to the same power. Now with like terms, it doesn't matter what the coefficient is, all we're concerned with is having the same variables raised to the same power or degree.
Now let's take a couple examples of like terms.
All three of these terms are like terms, they all have a race to the first degree. So we have the variable A to the first power, the variable a race to the first power, and the variable a race to the first power. Let's look at a few more like terms. We'll have 5x 12x, and 0.9x. Again, all three of these are like terms, they all have the variable x raised to the first power.
